—1. Strength—
John is a tactical character, it highly depends special attacks, like Firen and Freeze, his shields are very useful when you need time to recover or just to defend yourself from balls or something, his staff has a longer range than normal hitting characters, he can heal himself and his disk can be very useful when you don’t want to start a close combat.
—2. Advantage position—
John definitely needs to be attacking on the z axis since his staff has longer range than normal hitting characters and he is medium hitting speed, he can also be used on a left-right position but it would be better on the z axis
—3. Recommended combos—
John has lots of combos using his shields so they can’t be written all but I will write the best one and some of its variations
AAA* **+ wait a little D>J+ wait a little D>J (see important) *** < D>J D>A or >>JA
*if he blocks the A then simply do D>J you will put a shield and then you can walk a little back and then do D>J D>A so he will hit both shields and then the D>A will prevent him from flipping back
**If you don’t have mp for a shield just do another A then you can do JA or D>A, if you delay a little the D>A if he flips back it will hit him, if you don’t delay it and he flips back he will dodge it but if he doesn’t flips back it will hit him.
***you can put all the shields you want just be sure you always leave one to walk a little away then put it so it will throw him against the others, then you can do D>A to prevent him from flipping back
IMPORTANT-if you are not overlapping him when you put a shield you may make him fall so the entire combo would be broken so when you think that if you add another shield you will make him fall you should better just finish adding shields and finish the combo right there
 
—4. Techniques—
[4.1]
Disk
John’s disk is always used when the opponent is down but you can put 2 shields to cover yourself then throw a disk and then you can dash attack the enemy so he will have the disk on one side and you on the other so one of the two should hit, this is usually used when you have low hp and you don’t want to do a close combat.

Self healing
You can put two shields and the heal yourself when you have low hp, then remain in the middle of the shields, if they crash with a shield simply put another one
—5. Weakness—

Slow dash attack
John has a slow dash attack and super attack so if you can force him onto dash attack you horizontally simply block it and when he tries to do his super attack you will have enough time to recover and start hitting him before his super attack can hit you.

Mind games
If you see that john has low hp they will usually try to heal himself so you can be always following him and when he puts his first shield he is slow putting them so if you are close enough you should have time to start hitting him.
—6. Not recommended—

Its not recommended to dash attack horizontally since his super punch is very slow so the enemy can recover and start hitting you
[6.2]
Blind disk
If you are going to throw a disk you should throw it when your enemy is down on when you are covered by shields other ways they can start hitting you before you can even throw it or maybe you can throw it but then they will be able to dash attack you then escaping from the disk.
